The “B” stands for Brandon… now you know.

B Todd started as a nickname when I was in school. I’ve always gone by my middle name, Todd, but due to a spelling error on a school form as “B. Todd” and all of a sudden it stuck. It became my official stage name, because you can be anybody you want in this world…

I can only B Todd. (wink)

So who am I? Where did I come from?

I’m from Atlanta, born and raised. A proud ATLien. I grew up on the north side, ITP (if you know, you know) and did theater all my life, since I was 6 years old. I never had the privilege of going to a real theater school so we made the best of what we had in cafeteria stages, called cafetoriums. Perhaps that’s also where I fell in love with food. Who knows!

After high school I went to University of Georgia for college (Go Dawgs!) where I majored in “There’s Always Next Season”— I mean TV and Film Production. Even though I was accepted to the school as an actor I thought it made more sense to know all the ins and outs of how to make films. How to make an idea into a film, the writing process, camera angles, editing (zzzzzz) and made all sorts of dumb, witty films. I would still do shows for the theater department and I would always act in my own films despite my professors requests. It set the stage for what would all come later.

After I graduated. I briefly moved back to Atlanta and started taking professional acting classes, got an agent and started trying to make it as an actor. Booked a couple things here and there, but I wanted more so I turned my attention to Savannah, GA. I enrolled at SCAD for my MFA in Performing Arts and now fell even more in love with acting than ever before. However, it is also unexpectedly where I fell in love with screenwriting, and under the mentorship of a certain professor then began to write screenplays: pilots, spec scripts and features. I would perform every day on stage, and in the after hours would write my next stories.

Fast forward to present day, after working in Atlanta I decided I wanted to explore new acting opportunities in New York City. While the city wasn’t always the kindest, it definitely was the greatest teacher of all. I was an actor before, but New York has a way of making you an artist. Having so much experience around various parts of filmmaking and storytelling I leaned on all my training to create and produce.

So I set out to make my own films: I would write them, produce them, star in them… because no one is going to tell me I can’t be in my own projects. I don’t need to audition for what’s already mine.

Two films later, I’m still doing all the above. Still writing. Still acting. Still in it because I love it too much to leave it, and I’m just starting to see the rewards. Come join me on the journey!
